El Camaleon Golf Club, or “The Chameleon” in English, is true to its name. Three distinct landscapes can be found at the course, as a tropical jungle, dense mangroves and sand-lined oceanfront along the Riviera Maya provide no shortage of beautiful scenery. In 10 years, the OHL Classic at Mayakoba has secured its place as a big-time PGA Tour event.
The OHL Classic at Mayakoba made history in the world of the golf to be the first event of the PGA TOUR that was played outside United States and Canada. OHL Classic at Mayakoba commemorates this year a decade of golf on the PGA TOUR and the tradition of being the host of the best players in the world.
The tournament took place between November 10th and 13th; this year, 132 players participated, including big stars of golf, as the defending champion Graeme McDowell, who qualified in T24, the second best result obtaining a championship the following year after winning the tournament; Chez Reavie and Kevin Streelman which ended in T4 along with Scott Piercy; Luke List, classified in a T7; Emiliano Grillo and Jhonatthan Vegas had 14-under-par 270 and tied as them players Latin American with lower score in the field.
Finally, Pat Perez, who was playing with a medical exemption, made five birdies and a bogey in the final round to reach 21-under-par, enough to achieve victory with two strokes over what had been leading after 54 holes, Gary Woodland. Perez matched to Harris English in the record for the best score on 72 holes (less 21). With his victory, he obtained a prize of more than one million of euros, 500 points of the FedExCup competition in which he advances to the third place, in addition to an invitation to be part of the Master of Augusta.
