How does the businessman of 2016 behave?
Doing something for a living, at a place that allows you to travel constantly, must be one of the most sought out jobs in the world… It’s great enough to travel for recreational and family purposes, but doing it for a living must be a dream!
Therefore, a series of companies that understand the needs of business travelers and can actually cater to them, have risen with time. The business traveler of 2016, isn’t the same as ten years ago, or even five! Things have shifted, the world has evolved, priorities have changed and so has the way we do a bunch of things. Enter this year 2016 top business travel trends:
1. Bleisure
It’s exactly what it sounds: Mixing business and pleasure. It’s never been so popular as now… With the advance of technology, the rise of mobile apps and literally turning any space into an office, bleisure travel takes a stand. Today’s businessman closes deals over drinks at an eclectic bar in the heart of Playa del Carmen, or sends off an email from the comfort of a beach chair on the golden sands of the Mexican Pacific, at Puerto Vallarta.
2. Experiential travel
Sounds like fun, right? Experiencing new things while working sounds like something I’d love to do on a very regular basis… But let’s go back and define the concept: It’s all about focusing on experiencing your travel destination; by connecting to its history, people and culture (this last one includes the food, for sure!). Basically, heading off to a bunch of meetings in the heart of the Mexican Caribbean, closing deals, moving back and forth your stocks and then when the day’s over, immerse yourself with a little bit of Maya history, legends and more!
3. It’s just one click away
The business traveler of 2016 cannot keep away from his/her phone. Wait a minute, can anyone of us? With everything one click away, today’s travelers can close deals, send emails, video conference call with fellow colleagues in Beijing, NYC, London, and Milan simultaneously, book dinner or tours even… Well the list is endless! For the most part of business travel, staying connected is imperative!
4. Air, ground or even across the ocean
The rise of options, the on-growing availability of mobile apps and even the strengthening of bilateral agreements between nations has led to greater options for getting from one place to another. Transportation has definitely evolved and it’s a growing trend that this year’s business traveler will have a great deal to choose from. For instance, in regard to air transportation, effective January 1st, 2016, a modernized aviation agreement came into action between Mexico and the US, meaning that there will be new flights to and from Mexico and more routes.
5. Accommodation: Some things never change
In spite of the greater option on lodging and accommodation, the business traveler (as far as trends go), will not vouch for anything other than hotel stays… Even though services such as Airbnb and of the sort, are highly popular, the traditional accommodation is still a favorite for the businessman of 2016. What is different though? More luxurious services within the resort, such as butlers, gourmet delights, personalized attention, fascinating and jaw breaking facilities and of course, avant-garde business and meeting spaces.
