Located a few kilometers off the coast of Mexico, near the Bay of Bandera, the Marieta Islands are archipelagos that were formed as a result of volcanic activity. These islands have remained deserted for years. 1. How to get to the hidden beach of Islas Marietas?
From Puerto Vallarta or its surroundings, you can easily find boats and sport excursions (kayaking, diving, snorkeling…) to the “Hidden Cave Beach”. Getting to the Hidden Cave Beach sometimes requires booking a boat in advance, which is very popular.
Departures are from Puerto Vallarta Maritime Terminal or the Vallarta Center in Nuevo Vallarta. It is also possible to find a local boat in Punta de Mita for a less touristy crossing.
To reach the hidden beach, you will have to arrive at low tide to swim in and out before being trapped in the water!
2. When to go to the hidden beach?
The weather remains pretty much the same throughout the year. It is surprisingly pleasant with 322 days of sunshine a year. Sunny days and cool, comfortable nights is a guarantee.
However, after the winter rains (in November), the water on the beach becomes exceptionally clear! Taking the beauty of the landscape to a whole new level.
4. What to do in the surroundings of Marietas?
The region of Puerto Vallarta, as much for the beauty of its landscapes as for its charming villages, is worth visiting.
Heading south, the road follows the contours of the coast as far as Mismaloya and Boca de Tomatlan before going into the lush forest of the Sierra Madre. This road is lined with deep precipices and winding torrents.
Higher up, the climate is drier and cooler; the road winds its way through mountains and pine forests to reach a high plateau and the small village of El Tuito.
